![]() Film-making was just one aspect of this 2007 project centred around the pottery heritage of Bovey Tracey. Commissioned by Bovey Youth Action and run by youth leader Rachel Rawlings from the Bovey Youth Café the Pottery Pictures encompassed pottery-making workshops, art displays in local shops and public places and historical research. The project ran between June and October culminating in a grand sharing event at Bovey Tracey Town Hall in December attended by a large community audience and local dignitaries. It was the job of the young film-makers to research, plan, shoot and edit a documentary of the project and the wider pottery industry of the area. ![]() ![]() The project began with sessions to learn about how film is put together and these sessions resulted in the short fictional time travel film The Potter’s Key. After the concept for the main documentary was developed the young people interviewed a number of people from the local pottery industry, filmed and interviewed participants at the pottery making sessions run by local potter Taja as well as running a video diary. The young people edited down their material to a sharp 20 mins. The documentary is available for public screenings. Please contact Blind Ditch for more information. ![]() ![]()
