A mobile film- making and exhibition project run with young people from villages across rural Teignbridge

VANLAND was conceived as an innovative digital media project aimed at giving the young people of rural Teignbridge a voice through developing the skills of creative video making. To do this, the project emphasizes the importance of screening of the young people's finished work to their wider communities alongside the valuable technological and life skills gained in the making process.

Between 2004-06 the VANLAND project ran as a young person led film-making project hosted by a variety of youth organisations in rural locations across Teignbridge. In the first part of each year Blind Ditch facilitated film making workshops in local villages producing digital shorts and installation materials. The work was then installed into the VANLAND caravan and toured to fairs, fetes and events in the region throughout the Summer and early Autumn. The VANLAND caravan has now retired to less mobile but still useful life at Organic Arts at West Town Farm in Ide.

Between 2004 -06 the VANLAND project worked with 13 different communities of young people across Teignbridge (working with the Devon Youth Service and other service providers for young people), facilitating thought provoking and high quality video work accessible to audiences of all ages.
