It was the best media thing I've done
in ages.

VANLAND is a fully mobile project which means that all of the film-making workshops happen in (or nearby) the village where the participants live. Running as 1 day tasters, short intensives and longer residencies the workshop process is focused as much on facilitating the creative vision of the participants as learning the technological skills of video making.

It was a very enjoyable experience.
I hope to do it again and the skills I have learned will be very useful for me
for the future.

Workshops are tailored to the skill level and vision of each group. During the process participants form small 'production companies'
and work through the appropriate stages of digital video making: concept development, script writing, storyboarding, performance for camera, camera skills, image and sound editing.
All the workshops are facilitated by skilled performance and media professionals based in the region.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The people that worked with us were nice
to us, were as chilled as us and worked
with us instead of against us.

Tash aged 14

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the end of each workshop participants will have taken on different roles throughout the production process and worked together to bring a short film to completion ready for public screening. Past projects have included fiction (action-packed thrillers, sci-fi and drama) documentaries and mockumentaries and single/multi-screen installation work - all using issues of rural Devon life and the local landscape as sources of inspiration.
